Summer Flight Deals
Best booked Mar–Jun
Summer is peak season twice over: for Europe, and for domestic family travel to the national parks, Alaska, and the mountains. Both get more expensive the longer you wait, but on different clocks. Fares to Europe are best booked by March, before the summer schedule fills; domestic summer trips are usually best locked in by May.
The single biggest lever in summer is avoiding the very peak. Mid-June through mid-August is the crush; late May, early June, and the back half of August — when families with school-age kids drop out — are noticeably cheaper for the same destinations, and the weather is often just as good. For Europe specifically, the September shoulder is cheaper still if your dates can stretch past Labor Day.
Family trips reward booking early for another reason: seats together. Once a flight fills, getting four seats in one row without paying seat-selection fees gets hard, so booking ahead protects both the fare and the seating.
The routes below are the busiest summer pairs, domestic and international. Fares shown are recorded lows, not live quotes — call and an agent will price your dates and the cheaper shoulder weeks, and seat the family together.

Timing a cheaper summer trip
- Book Europe by March and domestic summer trips by May; peak-summer fares are set early and hold.
- Late August is meaningfully cheaper than June and July as demand tapers.
- A cheaper European gateway plus a train or short hop often beats a nonstop to a pricey capital.
- Watch checked-bag rules on the cheapest transatlantic fares — the saving can vanish once bags are added.

Frequently asked questions
When should I book summer flights to Europe?
By March. Summer European fares are set early and rarely fall; waiting usually means paying more as the cheap buckets sell out.
When is the cheapest part of summer to fly?
Late August, as demand tapers toward the school year, is typically cheaper than June and July.
Do you book the national parks and Alaska?
Yes — agents price the gateway cities (Salt Lake City, Denver, Bozeman, Jackson Hole, Anchorage) and the best summer routings.
Are these fares live?
No. They are the lowest fares recorded recently on each route from cached search data, refreshed nightly. The agent quotes the live price when you call.
How do I get one of these fares?
Call (708) 866-8751 with the route and your dates. If the recorded fare is still available the agent books it; if not, they find the closest current fare across all airlines.
Can I book these online?
No. Every booking is made by phone with a licensed agent so names, dates, and fare rules are confirmed before payment.
