Fix a Misspelled Name on Your Airline Ticket
Misspelled name on a ticket? A live agent handles name corrections on any airline, explains what counts as a fix vs a new ticket, and sorts it before you fly.
Airlines require the name on the ticket to match the ID at security. Most allow corrections of a few characters, adding or removing a middle name, or fixing a swapped first and last name, sometimes free and sometimes for a fee. None allow a ticket to be transferred to a different person.
The sooner you call, the more options exist. Corrections on the day of travel are harder and some carriers will not process them at all.
A minor typo and a full legal name change are handled very differently. Fixing a few letters is usually quick and often free; changing a surname after marriage, or transferring a ticket to another person, is far more restricted and on many airlines is not allowed at all. Have the name exactly as it appears on the ID or passport you will travel with, and an agent will tell you what the airline can and cannot do.
Calls are answered by licensed travel agents at our partner agency, 24/7. WarBird Flight is independent and not affiliated with any airline.

Frequently asked questions
Can I change the name on a plane ticket to someone else?
No. Airlines do not permit transferring a ticket to a different person. Spelling corrections for the same traveler are allowed.
How much does a name correction cost?
It ranges from free to a reissue fee depending on the airline and how large the correction is. The agent quotes the fee before proceeding.
My middle name is missing. Is that a problem?
Usually not for domestic travel, but for international itineraries the name should match your passport. An agent can add it.
I got married and my passport has my new name. What do I do?
Call as early as possible. Airlines accept legal name changes with documentation, and the agent will reissue the ticket.
