Unlike the US carriers, Air Canada still charges change fees on Standard fares; Flex and higher fares reduce or waive them. Basic fares cannot be changed.

Cancelling a Air Canada flight
Tickets to or from the US booked seven or more days ahead can be cancelled within 24 hours of purchase for a full refund under US DOT rules; Air Canada applies the 24-hour rule broadly.
Standard fares cancelled after 24 hours are typically non-refundable but may be eligible for a credit or Aeroplan points depending on the fare; Latitude fares are refundable.
